To celebrate Miss Maywen’s 1st birthday, we have a few people over of a BBQ.

As a simple birthday gift we cleared out an area for a play room next to our office space, I think it turned out nice.

We welcomed the first birthday with a song, well really Jim and I sang our version of the birthday song.
Poor Maywen didn’t know what to think at first, I mean how would you feel to wake up one morning then have your parents come in “singing to you”. But our rousing addition of Happy, Happy Birthday quickly got her in the mood, she did a fine jig.

Once we got The Girl out of bed she came out to the beginning of her fun day.

Getting ready for a nice family dinner and prep work for the friends BBQ, keep us busy. That is until Daddy got off work and took The Girl for a quick spin. A quick spin and some Daddy-Daughter gelato time.

12 months | 27 April – 26 May

With the first birthday around the corner it was time for a quick trip to see Grandma Miles. And lunch by the water was just the ticket.

With spring on the way our outings are becoming more frequent.
We had a few play dates,

We looked high and low and finely found the perfect ride. We got an adult tricycle with two big baskets.

That did mean I had to sell off two of my bikes.
But well worth it so Maywen’s first bike ride was safe and fun.
It also allows us to load up at the Trader Joe’s. Good times.

Easter was spent with our friends and Maywen’s godmother Katrina & Timm

10 months | 27 Feb – 26 March

It’s official we are in the “Cruiser” stage.

She’s very good at pulling herself up and walking around with the help of the furniture and her activity center.
Which she has no interested in if placed inside, she only likes to now play with in from outside.
The other official news in the house is, I’ve passed my exams and I’m now a Principal Broker
And with that I’ve decided to leave RE/MAX and open my own brokerage

Well now you’re just showing off.
I mean really, your 9mons you are supposd to bend that way!
OK really she’s just started to ‘eat her feet’, I get a good giggle every time she does this

Now that she has crawling down, MIM is getting around the house famously.
She’s also starting to pull herself up on things, like the couch to get around

8 months | 27 Dec – 26 Jan

The snow stayed with us for most of Jan so a lot more indoor time for us.
We were able to get out for New Years, as Eva came for a few days to visit.
Her time was limited but, we enjoyed her company.

We also took the opportunity to start our “scaling down” project.
We have found, now that we have a third member of the family who comes with a lot of accoutrements that we as a couple have collected far too many things. Some of which we do not need. So in an effort to scale back we are going to take the next year purging, wish us luck!

All that indoor and tummy time paid off, The Girl started crawling on the 22nd of January.
Woo Hoo!


It also gave me some time to get some class time in, as I’m working to get my Principle Broker’s license.
