number 1

Before I get to far, I should tell you that on March 1st 2010 about 745pm, The Girl accidently/on purpose peed in the toilet.
So I bought a potty pot/trainer/seat thing for her today.
I’m hoping this means we are on our potty training way.

See The Girl has this strange fascination with the toilet.
Open, Closed, Open, Closed goes the lid.
Roll, Roll, Roll, Roll, Roll goes the seemingly endless supply of toilet paper. Or so it seems to her.
Not to mention the fact that we have no privacy in there anymore.
She has a sixth (sick) sense about it . If you try to sneak in to use the toilet and close the door tight she’ll find you and cry at the door like you just killed The Cat (sorry Frey). Or if you’re not careful she comes in, mater of fact I would like to sit on your lap, you’re just sitting there, for gods sack it’s just pee! It started to come to the ‘you can’t come any closer to me then the first rug’ rule. She kinda followed it but, not really, let me see! let me help!
Mid October (’09) was when she started pulling her pants down, trying to pull off her diaper and trying to lift the lid of the toilet.
It wasn’t anything consistent but, it’s escalated: pants down- diaper off – lid up – handle flushed - sitting bear butt on the toilet a few times a week. (as I re-read this, Yes we also do the wash the hands every time part of the ritual too)

Now it’s March 1st I’m getting her ready for bed, we finish brushing her teeth when she insist on sitting on the toilet.
I help her. Step stool in place and pants off, as we are getting her ready for bed. Diaper off, bummer I thought it’s wet, she’s already went, we missed it. She sits there for a few seconds when I say “Ok let’s go to your room and get a new diaper”. “No” she said and shakes her head. A few more seconds go by and I say “Now you’ve had some time on the toilet, let’s finish getting ready for bed” “No” “Well you can’t just sit there, the toilet is for poop/peepee, do you have to go poop?” she just looks at me “do you have to go peepee?” she looks at me intently, her look gives me the feeling that she’s trying to think if she really needs to go. Then her tummy starts to tighten like she pushing “Don’t try and make yourself go, we can come back when you really need to” and as I’m saying this a small amount of pee comes out. I go so excited “Oh my god, you just peepee’d in the toilet! Good job baby!” Then she squeaked with delight had a BIG smile on her face, clapped her hands then stood up. We cleaned up and of course called Daddy in for congratulations.

So now it’s this, the potty chair.
Which by the way has little handles on it to help your child sit down.
Well The Girl uses them to carry it around the house. Twice now we’ve had to tell her it has to stay in the bathroom. I also let her pick out big girl panties, which I found her staring at just before dinner. I hope it will be some kind of incentive for her to move out of diapers. Only time will tell.
